History
Built on behalf of the British shipowner J. Mr. Wood and Company. Bought on drydock in 1880 by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique with her sistership ABANA and AKABA. Renamed ALEXANDRE BIXIO and placed on the servicing of the West Indies and the Central America. In 1889, is assigned to the line of Mexico. In 1890 and 1904, receives new boilers. In 1895, is placed on the line connecting Marseilles to Colon. January 21, 1905, runs aground in the estuary of the river Loire. The crew and the cargo are saved but the ship is lost.
