History
Cargo and passenger vessel of 8650t, 2nd of a series of 3 ordered by the State pursuant to the law Tasso and of which the 2 first (INDOCHINOIS and CALÉDONIEN) were intended for Messageries Maritimes company (3rd, MALGACHE, having to be allotted to the NCHP). Launched on February 8, 1939. Put under the management of CGT at her delivery on June 18, 1940, preserving her typical name. Some voyages to Dakar under mode DTM then laid up in Marseille. Given to the occupant on December 19, 1942 in accordance with the Laval-Kaufmann agreements, given to Italy which places her under management of the company Adriatica. Renamed SPOLETO. Lost on January 31, 1943 in Bizerte following an allied attack, whereas she was used as an ammunition carrier.
