History
Cargo liner of 3560t of the « Compagnie France Navigation », put under sequestration and entrusted to Transat in September 1939 at the same time as CAP PINÈDE, CASSIDAIGNE, ILE ROUSSE, MOSTAGANEM and SAINT MALO (II). Built in 1918 under the name of WULSTY CASTLE for the shipping compagy James Chambers & Co. Resold in 1936 to Kulukundis Bros, renamed CRAGGAN HILL, then in 1937 to CFN and renamed BONIFACIO. Under CGT management as from September 1939, sails on North Africa. Given to the occupant on December 3, 1942 to Marseilles following the Laval-Kaufmann agreements. Allocated to Italy, placed under the control of the company Italia, renamed CAMPO BASSO. Torpedoed on May 4, 1943 by HMS NUBIAN off Raz el Hamar.
