History
Ship inspired of the series of CHARLES QUINT (1880), VILLE D' ORAN (1880), SAINT AUGUSTIN (1880), etc. Put in service in August 1884 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. When put into service, carries out a crossing record Marseille-Algiers in 26 hours. In 1897, she receives a triple expansion engine and new boilers. On June 23, 1917 then again on July 27, repulses an attack of submarine through gunfire. From 1920, is used as ship of reserve. Demolished in 1924, after a 39 years career!
