Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, 1906 - 1913
History
Built on behalf of British shipping company J.T. Rennie & Son under the name of DABULAMANZI. Brought into service like cargo liner in May 1882. In 1900, is bought by the company Compagnie Franco-Tunisienne de Navigation and is renamed VILLE DE SFAX. Transformed to accommodate 15 passengers. In October 1907, is bought by Compagnie Générale Transatatlantique and is placed on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille, without renaming. In January 1913, is resold to S.A. Unione Austriaco di Navigation and is renamed ANNA. Placed on a line connecting Trieste to Cuba. Laid up in August 1914 in Havana, the ship is seized in May 1917 by the United States. Resold in 1924 to a Chilean shipowner and renamed CALERA. Changes owner in 1926. Is renamed MAULE. On September 8, 1928, is lost by stranding close to Columbia Point, on the South American coasts.
