History
Second of a pair of two steamers ordered as paddle wheels ships. Transformed into propeller ship during construction. Sistership : PEREIRE. Brought into service in May 1866 on the line Le Havre-New York. In 1873-74, receives a compound engine and a second chimney (?). Is put in service in May 1874. In June 1876, is transferred on the line of Colon. Sold in 1888. Transformed into a four-mast bark and renamed H. BISCHOFF. October 28, 1900, runs aground on Elba close to Glückstadt and breaks into two.
