History
Twelfth and the last of a series of 12 ships. Sisterships: CHARLES QUINT (1880), VILLE D'ORAN (1880), SAINT AUGUSTIN (1880), MOISE (1880), VILLE DE MADRID (1880), VILLE DE BONE (1880), VILLE DE BARCELONE (1880), ABD EL KADER (1880), ISAAC PEREIRE (1880), KLEBER (1880), VILLE DE ROME (1881). Brought into service in 1881 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille, under the name of VILLE DE NAPLES. In 1896-97, undergoes a complete reconditioning, receives a triple expansion engine and new boilers. In 1918, undergoes a new complete reconditioning. Is renamed OUDJDA. Is demolished in 1929 in La Seyne, after a 48 years career!
