History
Seventh of a series of 12 ships. Sisterships: CHARLES QUINT (1880), VILLE D'ORAN (1880), SAINT AUGUSTIN (1880), MOISE (1880), VILE DE MADRID (1880), VILLE DE BONE (1880), ABD EL KADER (1880), ISAAC PEREIRE (1880), KLEBER (1880), VILLE DE ROME (1881), VILLE DE NAPLES (1882). Brought into service in July 1880 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. In 1890, undergoes a complete reconditioning, receives a triple expansion engine and new boilers. In 1902, receives new boilers again. Demolished in 1914 in Genoa.
