History
Ex-HAMMONIA built on behalf of the HAPAG. Brought into service in February 1883 on the Hamburg-New York line. Bought by Transat in December 1899. Renamed VERSAILLES. The central mast is removed. Placed on the line of Mexico in January 1900. 1891 to 1893, is assigned to the Marseilles-Colon line. In 1893, is transferred to the Saint-nazaire-Colon line. In 1895, undergoes an important reconditioning including the installation of a triple expansion engine and new boilers. Her chimneys are raised. Runs aground Cuba in 1899 and Pointe-à-Pitre the following year. In December 1912, is assigned to the Bordeaux-Casablanca line which she will serve until June 1914. Demolished in Genoa in 1914.
