Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, 1908 - 1931

History

Third of a series of three ships designed for the transport of the emigrants. Sisterships : FLORIDE (1907), CAROLINE (1908). Brought into service in September 1908. Used on the lines of the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. In 1913 and 1914, accomplishes some trips to South America on behalf of the Compagnie Sud-Atlantique. On November 29, 1917, is torpedoed close to Lorient but manages to strand on the coast. May 17, 1923, collides with the steamer FLANDRE (1914) of Transat while getting under way from Saint-Nazaire, causing her damages to her superstructures. Demolished in 1931.
