History
Third of a series of six ships. Sisterships : SAN ANTONIO (1930), SAN DIEGO (1930), SAN JOSE (1931), SAN MATEO (1931), SAN PEDRO (1931). Delivered December 1930 and brought into service in January 1931 on the lines of the North Pacific. On August 7, 1936, during a trip between Newcastle and Le Havre, runs aground close to the English coast. Refloated, she must undergo important repairs. In June 1940, takes refuge in Marseille. On December 21, 1942, is seized by the Germans. On July 14, 1943, is sunk by allied planes combined off the Cape Corsica.
