History
First of a series of 4 ships. Sisterships : SAINT DOMINGUE (1880), MANOUBIA (1880), VILLE DE TANGER (1880). Brought into service in July 1879 like stationary at the West Indies. In 1887, undergoes a complete reconditioning then is assigned to the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. Undegoes a new reconditioning in 1896. From 1899, is again used like stationary in the West Indies. In 1906, receives new boilers. Demolished in 1914.
