Banana Ship of 2500t, 2nd of a series of 3 bought on slipway in Denmark by the CGAM (QUERCY, BARFLEUR, MAURIENNE). Launched on June 2, 1938. Chartered by the CGT at time of the completion. Transferred to Transat in 1939. Requisitioned on September 25, 1939, fitted out as auxiliary cruiser (X19). Under British control as from July 1940, alloted to the FNFL. Converted into landing ship of troops in 1943. Takes part in the operation Anvil (Landing in Provence) in August 1944. After the freeing of France, incorporated in the naval forces of Indo-China. Returned to the CGT on 11 July 1946, put into service on May 28, 1947. Sold on May 16, 1955 to Blue Star, renamed BOSWELL under Flag of her subsidiary company Lamport & Holt. Renamed CROME on July 1959. Transferred to Blue Star on January 1960, renamed ROMAN STAR. Converted into oil carrier in tanks, her refrigerating installation withdrawn. Transferred in May 1961 to Booth Line, of the group Blue Star, renamed BEDE. Sold in 1964 to the Greek Rahcassi Shipping Company, renamed VICTORIA ELENA, converted into traditional cargo liner. Lost by fire on January 16, 1967 in Thessalonique, demolished in September 1967 in La Spezia.
