History
Second of a series of 4 ships. Sisterships : EL SALVADOR (1879), MANOUBIA (1880), VILLE DE TANGER (1880). Brought into service in 1880 like stationary in the West Indies. In 1887, is assigned to the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. In 1898, receives new boilers. In October 1916, is sold to the shipping company Faustin et Compagnie and is renamed GEORGE FAUSTIN. Is resold to a Spanish shipowner in 1922 and renamed CALAFIGUERA. Demolished in Brest in 1923 (?).
