History
Built on behalf of the German Shipping Compagny Seeschiffahrts A.K. under the name of HOFFNUNG. Brought into service in 1922. Sold to the German Shipping Compagny Merkur in 1924. Bought by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique in February 1928. Renamed BALATA and used like stationary in the West Indies. Between the end August 1939 and April 1940, is fitted out as patrol craft by the French Navy. Sold for the demolition in Jamaica in October 1951.
