History
Built on behalf of the British shipping company Royal Mail Lines under the name of EBRO. Brought into service in September 1896 on the lines of South America. Sold in 1903 to the shipping company Swan, Peterson & Company. from Newcastle and renamed QUEBEC. Serves Canada. Bought by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique in December 1904, with her sistership HALIFAX. Retains her name. After three crossings on New York, is placed on the line connecting Bordeaux to Haiti. Between 1914 and 1916, is used on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. The 23 (or 24?) January 1917, during a return trip towards the parent State, runs up against a mine laid by German submarine UC21 in the estuary of the Gironde and sinks. 4 victims.
