History
Seventh of a series of 8 ships built on behalf of Compagnie Valéry and alloted to Transat in December 1880. Sisterships: AFRIQUE (1872), AJACCIO (1872), LA CORSE (1872), BASTIA (1872), IMMACULEE CONCEPTION (used as cargo liner by CGT, 1872), MARECHAL CANROBERT (1873), LOU CETTORI (1873). Brought into service in 1873 on the lines of North Africa. Transferred to Transat in December 1880. December 22, 1886, a violent storm drifted her on the coast, at the departure of Port-Vendres. The ship breaks into two. The wreck is sold for the demolition in 1887.
