Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, 1970 - 1971
History
Put on slipway under the name of EL KANTARA for Compagnie de Navigation Mixte, launched under the name of PRESIDENT DE CAZALET. Entered in service in August 1948 on the lines of North Africa. In 1950, her traditional chimney is replaced by a shaped chimney of Strombos type. Chartered by Transat as from May 1967 and renamed MEDITERRANEE is finally bought by the Company in 1968 then hired out to the CGTM in 1969. Sold in 1971 to the greek company Constantine S. Efthymiadis, renamed ARCADI and used like cruising ship. Changes owner in 1976. Laid up in Perama (?). Always mentioned on the registers of Lloyd' S Register in 1995. Did not sail since 1976.
