History

Third of a series of 4 ships. Sisterships: SAINT DOMINGUE (1879), EL SALVADOR (1880), VILLE DE TANGER (1880). Brought into service in 1881 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. In 1891, receives new boilers. Then, is employed mainly like cargo liner. In 1895, is again transformed into steamer and is placed like stationary on the West Indies. Lost by stranding in Port au Prince, Haïti, July 6, 1899.
