History

Second of a series of three ships particularly intended for the transport of the emigrants. Sisterships: CALIFORNIE and MEXICO (1905). Brought into service in July 1905 on the line Le Havre-New York. In January 1909, is transferred on the line of Mexico. In July 1912, is again assigned to the line of New York. March 9, 1916, at the end of a travel between New-Orleans and Le Havre, is torpedoed by German submarine UB18, off the cape of La Hève.
