History
First of two ships ordered by a Spanish shipping company and bought on slipway by the very recent Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. First new ship to carry the colors of the Company. Sistership : FLORIDE (1862). Inaugurates the line of the West Indies and Mexico at the departure of Saint-Nazaire on April 14, 1862. Black hull. A photograph of 1863 shows her with a white hull. December 20, 1875, runs up against the steamer GIRONDE of the Messageries Maritimes company off Pauillac and sinks in three minutes. 14 victims In 1977, a piece of the wreck has been come up again on the surface.
