History
Cargo liner of 2360t, belonging to a series of 11 identical ordered by the State under the programme of replacement of the losses of war for various French Shipping Companies. Twin of the SAHARA. Launched on 15 January 1949, brought into service on February 2, 1950 on the Marseille-Tunis line. Transferred to the CGAM on July 7, 1951 on the line Nantes-Bordeaux-Algeria. Handed over to the CGT on 11 January 1953, assigned to the line of Algeria. Sold on December 15, 1969 to the Shipping Compagny Filipino Carlos Gothong, renamed DON ALBERTO. Resold in 1977 to Sulpicio Lines, also from Philippines, arranged for transport of passengers and renamed DONA HELENA. Demolished in 1989.
