Brought into service in May 1890 on the Hamburg-New York line. Used since 1895 on the Genoa-New York line. Sold in 1897 to the Spanish Marine to be used as transport of troops and auxiliary cruiser within the framework of the conflict with the United States. Renamed PATRIOTA. In July 1899, is seized by French Government in Fort-de-France in retrieval of a supply of coal to a Spanish ship. Assigned to Transat. Is renamed AQUITAINE and brought into service in December on the line Le Havre-New York, to replace LA BOURGOGNE. She is the first steamer with three funnels of the company. Sold for demolition in Scotland in 1906.
