Brought into service in February 1921 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille, service which she will ensure until her shipwreck in 1942. In 1940, is transformed into coal heating. January 6, 1942, steamer LAMORICIERE leaves Alger for Marseille with 272 passengers and 122 members of crew on board. The following day at evening, she alters her course to give assistance to cargo liner JUMIEGES of Compagnie Worms, herself in difficulty off the Balearic Islands. The steamer is subjected to a violent storm : water is engulfed in the tanks by the badly joined port holes and the ship begins to take list. She sends a S.O.S and several ships come to help, in particularly steamers GOUVERNEUR GENERAL CHANZY and GOUVERNEUR GENERAL DE GUEYDON of Transat, but on January 9, shortly afternoon, the LAMORICIERE sinks with all hands. The shipwreck will be put on the account of the bad quality of the coal and the lack of power of the machines in the storm. Only 95 (93?) passengers and members of crew will be saved.
