History
First of a pair of two ships, the second being LA SAVOIE, she is, at the time, the largest French steamer. Her career was thwarted, from the beginning, by many technical failures and four collisions. Brought into service in August 1900 on the line Le Havre-New York. In August 1914, is converted into an auxiliary cruiser and renamed LA LORRAINE II. Used as transport of troops as from 1917, under her primordial name. Put again in service on the line Le Havre-New York in February 1919. Sold for the demolition in Penhoët at the end of 1922.
