Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, 1881 - 1906

History
Third of a series of 8 ships built on behalf of Compagnie Valéry and alloted to Transat in December 1880. Sisterships: AFRIQUE (1872), AJACCIO (1872), BASTIA (1872), IMMACULEE CONCEPTION (used as cargo liner by CGT, 1872), MARECHAL CANROBERT (1873), MOHAMED ES SADOCK (1873), LOU CETTORI (1873). Brought into service in 1873 on the lines of North Africa. Transferred to Transat in December 1880. In 1890-91, receives new boilers. In 1896, is assigned to a line connecting Bordeaux to London. In January 1902, is sold to an American ship-owner and renamed DE LA RAMA. Demolished in 1910 in Manila.
