History
Cargo liner of 3900t built in Great Britain in 1920 under the name of SYDNEY LASRY for the Compagnie Lasry (Oran). Launched on March 3, 1920, put under the French Flag on May 23, 1920. Freighted since 1922 by the CGT for her lines of North Africa, with her twin NELLY LASRY. Renamed ARIÈGE in 1933, then sold to the CGT on December 1934. Resold to SAGA on March 1938, renamed CAP TAFELNEH. Sunk in Dunkirk on June 1940, reset a float by the occupant and entrusted to the Shipping Compagny, Heinrich F.C.Arp, Hamburg, renamed CARL ARP. Seized by the British in Hamburg on May 1945, renamed EMPIRE CHELMER, then restored to the SAGA and renamed CAP TAFELNEH. Resold in 1950 to the Turkish Shipowner, Mustapha Nuri Andak, renamed KANDILLI. Resold in 1957 to another Turkish Shipowner, Mehmet Dogan, renamed KAHRAMAN DOGAN. Finally, sold for the demolition in 1975.
