History
Cargo liner of 3900t built in Great Britain in 1920 under the name of NELLY LASRY for the Compagnie Lasry (Oran). Launched on January 24, 1920, put under the French flag on May 23, 1920. Freighted since 1922 by the CGT for her lines of North Africa, with her twin SYDNEY LASRY. Renamed ARDENNES in 1933, then sold to the CGT on December 1934. Resold to SAGA on March 1938, renamed CAPE EL HANK. Placed in 1940 under the control of the Ministry of the War Transport. Given to the French State in 1945, CGT management. Restored to Saga in 1950. Sold in 1951 to the Société Franco-Chinoise de Transports Maritimes et Fluviaux (Saigon), renamed TAI SEUN HONG. Resold in 1958 to Shun Cheong S.N.Compagny (Hong Kong). Destroyed on February 1963 in Hong Kong. NB: the photograph above shows the ARDENNES with the Flag of Saga and alongside to the Saga quay (Compagnie des Bateaux à Vapeur du Nord) but still bearing her CGT name.
