History
Cargo liner delivered on March 10, 1921 to the Compagnie de Navigation Mixte under the name of la MARSEILLAISE, twin of the NOTRE DAME DE FOURVIERES, intended for a project of line on the east of the Indian continent which is abandoned, and are used for the international tramping. Chartered with her twin on April 23, 1925 by the Transat over a period of 10 years for the line West coast of the USA and Canada. In December 15, 1926 arrives to Antwerp with large damages resulting from a violent storm. Acquired the 1st December 1929 and renamed FLORIDE and LOUISIANE. Laid up from December 1931 to November 1933. January 29, 1937 runs down the Swedish cargo liner TROLLEHOLM in roads of Le Havre and is victim of a fire in hold number 3 in Hull on March 24, 1937. The 1st December 1939 while leaving Dunkerque bound for Antwerp, runs up against a German magnetic mine (1 died and 2 disappeared) and runs aground close to the beach of Malo les Bains where she breaks into two parts.
