Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, 1907 - 1915

History
First of a series of three ships designed for the transport of the emigrants. Sisterships : CAROLINE (1908), TEXAS (1908). Brought into service in November 1907. Used on the lines of New York and Gulf of Mexico. January 19 (or February?) 1915, under chartering by Compagnie Sud-Atlantique, is hailed by German ship-corsair PRINZ EITEL FRIEDRICH in the south of Dakar. The passengers and the crew are transferred on board the corsair then the ship is sunk.
