History
Second of a series of 5 ships, ordered under the name of MARECHAL BUGEAUD. Sisterships : EUGENE PEREIRE (1888), MARECHAL BUGEAUD (1890), VILLE D'ALGER (1890), GENERAL CHANZY (1891). Brought into service in November 1889 on the lines of North Africa, at the departure of Marseille. In 1898-99, undergoes a complete reconditioning and receives new boilers. Sold for the demolition in Italy in 1921, after a 32 years career.
