History
Put on slipway under the name of PROVENCE. Renamed COMTE DE NICE after her launching, the name of PROVENCE being reserved for another unit. Sistership : CORSE. Brought into service in July 1966 on the lines of Corsica. In August, rescues the 9 occupants of a yacht which had made shipwreck off Calvi. Transferred in 1969 to the CGTM which joins together the Mediterranean services of Transat and Compagnie de Navigation Mixte. Same service. In 1976, the CGTM becomes the SNCM. Laid up in October 1982. Sold in May 1983 to the Greek shipping company Naias Shipping Company. Renamed GOLDEN VERGINA. Resold in 1989 to the Greek Shipping Company Agapitos Bros. At the end of 1999, Minoan Lines take the control of Agapitos Bros. In 2000, is placed under the banner of Hellas Ferries and is renamed EXPRESS NAIAS. Laid up in July 2002. Demolished in Aliaga, in Turkey, in 2003.
