History
Second of two ships ordered by a Spanish shipping company and bought on slipway by the very new Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. Sistership: LOUISIANE (1862). Brought into service on June 14, 1862 under the name of FLORIDE on the line of the West Indies and Mexico, at the departure of Le Havre. In 1866, is transformed to transport emigrants on the line of New York. October 5, 1866, sinks in the port of Le Havre during an operation of coal loading. Is refloated the 9. In 1874-75, is equipped with triple expansion engines and is renamed COLOMBIE. Her cutwater stem is replaced by a straight stem. In October 1875, after transformations, is assigned to the line of Colon. In 1887, is transferred on the line of Haïti. Sold for the demolition in Marseille in January 1898, after a 35 years career.
