History
Postal steamer of 2nd type (ALEXANDRE, CAIRO, EGYPTUS, LOUQSOR, NIL (1), OSIRIS) built in 1843 for Mail Administration, on appropriations of 7.000.000 Frs voted in 1842 for the construction of 6 ships. 1843 to 1851 she is assigned to the postal service of Levant which includes one line from Marseilles to Italy, Constantinople and Beirut. Transferred the 1st October 1851 to Société Anonyme des Messageries Nationales, she ensures from 1851 to 1855 the service of Levant which she alternates from 1855 to 1857 with the mail service bound for Oran, Algiers and Tunis within the scope of the convention of 1854 signed with the State. Then she is assigned to this only service road of North Africa, then from 1863 to 1866 to the lines at the departure of Constantinople. She is broken up in La Ciotat in 1866.
