Postal steamer of 2nd type (ALEXANDRE, CAIRE, EGYPTUS, LOUQSOR, NIL (I), OSIRIS) built in 1843 by shipyards ARMAN in Bordeaux for Mail Administration, on appropriations of 7,000,000 Frs voted in 1842 for the construction of 6 ships. From 1843 to 1851 assigned to the mail service of Levant which includes 3 lines from Marseilles to Italy, Constantinople and Beirut.
