Ministry of equipment and transport

At central government level

A representative appointed by the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Housing as member of the Board of Directors, Director of Maritime Transport, Ports and Coasts. The Ministry also supports the functioning of the Association. The position of General Secretary is occupied by a civil servant from the ministerial department.

At local government level

The Port Autonome of Le Havre :

Participates on the Association Board of Directors and supports the actions developed by French Lines in Upper Normandy, in particular for the conservation of historical collections at the Association headquarters. A representative proposed by the Port Autonome of Le Havre is a member of the Board of Directors :

At central government level

French Archive Department

This department has concluded a convention with the Association to catalogue, classify and open to the public the four and a half kilometres of archives. Two archivists work on these resources under the scientific and technical control of the French Archive Department and the Centre des Archives du Monde du Travail.

Department of Heritage and Architecture :

The Department of Heritage and Architecture undertook the proceedings for the classification at the National Heritage of the most remarkable collections. A first series of remarkable objects was classified by ministerial decree in 1998.

Regional Department of Cultural Affairs of Upper Normandy (DRAC) :

This department supports the actions developed on a museographic level by the Association in Normandy.

Ministry of finance

In accordance with the Association’s statutes, the State Inspector of the Société Nationale Corse-Méditerranée participates on the Board of Directors.

Ministry for education and employment

This ministry officially recognised the public interest of the actions developed by the Association and supports the Association in the context of aid for youth employment instituted in 1998.

Compte tenu de l’intérêt régional des missions de l’Association, la Région Haute-Normandie soutient l’Association depuis sa création.

Due to the regional interest in the Association missions, the Upper Normandy region supports the Association since its creation.
The region has contributed to the associative starting-up funds of the Association. It supports the development of the conservation of the collections and particularly the works carried out by the Mémoire Audiovisuelle de Haute-Normandie/Institut Régional de l’Image et du Son on the French Lines historical films.

Thanks to the region's support, the Association has been able to participate in the opening of the Espace maritime et portuaire des docks Vauban, which is the first permanent exhibition centre for French Lines collections, realised by the town of Le Havre and the Association Musée Maritime et Portuaire du Havre.

Town of Le Havre

A convention was concluded with Le Havre for the restoration of objects which leads to the building and restoration of scale models, posters and decorative elements as well as to the conservation of iconographic resources.
The restored collections are destined to be presented in the context of temporary exhibitions on particular themes in various places.

The Seine Maritime department

The Seine-Maritime Department supported the Association in 1998 for the realisation of an exhibition inaugurated in February 1998 at the Espace maritime et portuaire des docks Vauban

Chamber of commerce and industry of Marseille-Provence

The French Lines Association develops a communications network with the organisations in possession of archives and collections concerning the French Shipping Lines in order to make it easier for researchers and other parties interested in France or abroad, to use them.
In this context, French Lines is in relation with the CCI Marseille that possesses collections on French Shipping Lines: archives, iconography, publications, etc…
