The implementation on a regional scale of the Associations main objectives :

• inventory of archive collections to be found in the region,
• participation in the protection and promotion of archives and local collections. (exhibitions in the Delegations premises or participation in exhibitions organised by others). In the medium term, participation in the setting up of a maritime museographic complex in Marseille,
• setting up of a reference centre of the inventory of archives and collections open to the public.

The delegations activities do not only concern the heritage of the Associations founding shipping lines but also that of all the French armaments who have used the port of Marseille.
French Lines will also be concerned more generally with the history of the port of Marseille. They already benefit from the Association France Sud Pacifique thanks to the availability of documents. This Association was created in 1990 and specialises in the history of far away commercial expeditions such as the Captain Etienne Marchand’s world tour in 1790-1791 on board the ‘Solide’ which was built and armed in Marseille. This trip which caused a major sensation brought the people of Marseilles attention to the islands of Oceania. In this respect our Association will try to promote the heritage made up of the history of maritime relations between the Mediterranean and the South Pacific.

The number of people, individuals or legal entities, having subscribed up to this day is close to 1300. The number of donors and benefactors is around 180. The other indicator that measures the number of people having paid a subscription or renewal was 883 on the 28^th October 1998. The difference between the two figures is down to the rate of membership renewal, which was at 66.3%
