In addition to a collection of 70 000 photos, the French Lines Association also has 173 historical films dating from the beginning of the century to the present day, commissioned by the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, the Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes, the Compagnie Générale Maritime and the Société Nationale Maritime Corse-Méditerranée.
With the support of the region of Upper Normandy, French Lines has entrusted the valuation of its film collections to the Institut Regional de lImage et du Son ( more info).
The French Lines film collection
is composed of 173 viewable films showing the living memories of the French Merchant Navy of the 20th century with a variety of subjects being treated : construction of liners, life aboard ship, cruises, :
